A Brother-Sister Skincare Brand
AN ORIGIN STORY
Naked & Thriving was founded in 2016 by siblings and best friends, Greg and Margi Kimball. They believed that naturally derived skincare could be as effective as the stuff Big Beauty makes, which too often includes chemicals like phthalates, BPAs, and parabens. Since then, Greg and Margi have poured their hearts into crafting formulas that adhere to their sky-high standards, while delivering luminous (and clinically tested) results.

Greg is born in Connecticut, and Margi believes her little brother is “her baby.”

Still in Connecticut, Greg, Margi, and their older brother venture out to trick-or-treat. This is unrelated to their skincare journey.

While Margi travels to Arizona for grad school, Greg graduates from the University of Connecticut with a degree in entrepreneurship and begins working at a Big Beauty brand in New York.

Margi leaves New York for Boston to teach illustration at Lesley University and focus on her graphic memoir. She begins dating her future husband. Meanwhile, Greg has shifted away from Big Beauty to lead the marketing team at an e-commerce startup.

Margi helps Greg part-time with designs and offers many, many unfiltered opinions on the branding. Greg launches Naked & Thriving (from his kitchen!) with four products: Rejuvenate, Prevent, Detox, and Revitalize.
Naked & Thriving begins planting one tree for every bottle sold. This initiative has remained a part of the brand’s mission ever since.

Fueled by her fertility issues, Margi fully commits herself to the Naked & Thriving mission, transitioning from her part-time role to a full-time position as the Co-Founder and Creative Director. She begins redesigning the brand, which has moved out of Greg’s kitchen. By now, the brother-sister duo are formulating their products with expert chemists in the U.S.

Margi has a baby and publishes her first book!

Naked & Thriving begins its partnership with CleanHub to divert 10,000 pounds of plastic waste and keep our waterways clean.

Margi and Greg visit their Argentinian team in Buenos Aires and are surprised with a cake in the form of Restore Ultra-Rich Night Cream. All of Margi’s design dreams come true.

Their parents take them to JCPenney for family photos.

Greg visits Margi in Italy, where she’s studying art. They hike with friends in Cinque Terre.

After grad school, Margi moves in with Greg in New York City. Margi works as a Creative Director for a consulting firm, and Greg soon becomes disillusioned with the lack of regulated and responsible ingredients in Big Beauty.

Still in New York City, Greg begins researching ingredients and mixing face oils in his kitchen. After more than a thousand tests, Greg begins to finalize his first formulas.

Cruelty-free from the beginning, Naked & Thriving earns its Leaping Bunny Certification.
Working part-time for Naked & Thriving and part-time as a freelance illustrator, Margi begins to lead a rebrand of the company and develops the hand-lettered logo and designs you still see today.
Meanwhile, Margi begins to think about a family and, after some difficulty getting pregnant, learns she likely has a hormonal disorder, potentially caused by plastic chemicals found in the environment—and too often used in skincare. She clears out her bathroom of suspicious products and calls Greg.

After unveiling the new branding with its signature glass bottles and handdrawn designs, Naked & Thriving launches its first serum collection, and Renew Resurfacing Night Serum becomes a cult favorite in the U.S. After much demand, N&T begins shipping Renew internationally.

The Super Glow Duo becomes Margi’s go-to set for luminous skin.

Naked & Thriving becomes PETA Certified Vegan & Animal Test-Free!
After years of testing and formulations, the brand releases Restore Ultra-Rich Night Cream, and it quickly becomes a customer favorite with incredible clinical results.
Naked & Thriving launches HydraTint Multi-Sticks, its first collection of cheek & lipwear designed to hydrate with a gorgeous flush of color in one swipe.
